To legally own a handgun in the state of Hawaii you must be a U.S. Citizen over the age of 21, attend a pistol course and pass a background check with HPD. Currently we offer a pistol course that will meet Hawaii state requirements for purchasing firearms. It is very helpful in learning how to safely handle and operate pistols.
Basic Pistol Course
The Basic Pistol Course is for beginners and Hawaii state residents interested in purchasing pistols. It is good refresher course that teaches modern basic marksmanship techniques. The state of Hawaii requires that all persons seeking a permit to own handguns attend a handgun class. This course will teach you basic knowledge of modern semi auto's and revolvers, firearms safety, basic-intermediate marksmanship skills and maintaining your handgun. All of our instructors are NRA certified with many years of experience and actively compete in IPSC/USPSA matches. It is mandatory our instructors actively participate in a shooting sport to maintain and keep current their marksmanship and firearms handling skills so that they can provide the student with realistic and current information.
Course Content:
Firearms Safety Course that meets Hawaii State Law requirements to purchase pistols
Hawaii Firearm Laws Chapter 134
Live fire training with a variety of handgun calibers and models
- After the successful completion of your course, your instructors will be available to assist in improving your marksmanship, answer firearms related questions, and help you determine which handgun is suitable to your needs, free of charge.

- Photo ID: Driver's License, Military I.D., or State I.D.
- Long pants and covered shoes
- Hearing Protection & Safety Glasses

Cost: $125, class fee must be prepaid prior to course date to be registered for the class.
Includes course materials, ammunition, firearms, range lane use, and range rental firearms.
Registration/Reservations (Required): To get registered into the course you must prepay prior to the class date.
Reservations (Required): If you do not contact us or fail to show up your fees will be forfeited, no refunds.
Applicant Requirements
All applicants must be 21 years of age and older to attend courses. Hawaii State Law prohibits persons under the age of 21 to purchase firearms.
Other requirements by Hawaii State Law require that you must:
- Not be a fugitive from justice
- Not have been convicted of a felony
- Not a user of illegal drugs
- Never have been committed to a mental institution
- Not have been dishonorably discharged from the US armed forces
- Not be an illegal alien
- Not be subject to a TRO
- Not be convicted of a misdemeanor crime of violence
